Notes
The Harry Potter two-book gift box set, featuring Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, is a collectible edition that brings together the first two novels in J.K. Rowling’s iconic series.
J.K. Rowling’s first Harry Potter book was published in 1997, and the series grew into a global phenomenon, translated into over 80 languages and adapted into a major film series. Early in her career, Rowling frequently signed books at events and public appearances, especially during the release of the first few novels. However, as her popularity surged and demand grew, signed copies became less common and are now considered collectible—particularly those from the first editions or early book tours.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is the first book in J.K. Rowling’s globally popular fantasy series, introducing readers to Harry Potter, an orphan who discovers on his eleventh birthday that he is a wizard. He is invited to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he makes friends, uncovers secrets about his past, and begins to face the dark legacy of the powerful wizard Voldemort. Originally published in the UK in 1997 as Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the title was changed to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone for the U.S. release in 1998, with minor wording adjustments throughout the text. The change was made by the American publisher to appeal to a perceived younger audience unfamiliar with the concept of the philosopher’s stone from Western alchemy and legend.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the second book in J.K. Rowling’s series, continuing Harry’s adventures during his second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The story centers around a mysterious threat within the school, as students begin turning to stone and whispers of a hidden "Chamber of Secrets" resurface. Harry, along with his friends Ron and Hermione, investigates the legend and uncovers clues that lead to a dangerous confrontation with an ancient monster and a dark part of Hogwarts’ history. Themes of identity, prejudice, and bravery are explored more deeply, and the book expands the magical world introduced in the first installment. The U.S. and U.K. editions of the book share the same title, though minor wording differences remain between the two versions.
