A film tie-in adaptation of the last major work of fiction published in Tolstoy's lifetime.  Resurrection was an eagerly anticipated return to novel writing after 25 years of publishing non-fiction works.  It was so popular even in its heavily censored state that it outsold its predecessors "War and Peace" and "Anna Karenina."
