Notes
The Works of Geoffrey Chaucer encompass a rich collection of Middle English poetry, with his most famous work being The Canterbury Tales, a brilliant narrative of pilgrims sharing diverse stories on their journey to Canterbury. Chaucer’s writings, including Troilus and Criseyde, The Book of the Duchess, and The Parliament of Fowls, showcase his mastery of storytelling, vivid characterization, and exploration of themes like love, morality, and social satire. His use of vernacular English instead of Latin or French revolutionized literature by making it accessible to a broader audience. Chaucer’s works remain a cornerstone of English literary tradition and provide invaluable insight into medieval life and thought. A couple other stories and poetic pieces are included in this folio which are not written by Chaucer.
