5b, 1969; Frank Messiah; First edition
"Dune Messiah" is the second novel in Frank Herbert's iconic "Dune" series. Published in 1969, it continues the epic saga of the desert planet Arrakis and its complex political and ecological landscape. The story unfolds several years after the events of the first novel, with Paul Atreides now Emperor and facing the challenges of ruling a vast empire. As Paul grapples with the consequences of his actions and the burdens of leadership, the narrative delves into themes of power, religion, and the intricate interplay between individuals and the societies they shape. "Dune Messiah" is known for its philosophical depth, intricate plotting, and Herbert's exploration of the long-term implications of messianic figures and political maneuvering in a richly imagined science fiction universe.
Description
First edition, first impression. A near fine copy. Sequel to Dune and th second the six books. Continues Paul’s story over a decade later. A little edge wear to the jacket and boards, slight lean, owner’s inscription on the endpaper and a little offsetting. Boards have evidence of tape removal, with some scuffing - also some trivial tape marks to the reserve of the jacket. A nice copy.
