Porter Rockwell, known as Orrin Porter Rockwell, was a colorful and legendary figure in the American West. Born in 1813, he was a close friend and bodyguard of Joseph Smith, the founder of the Latter Day Saint movement, and later served as a protector for Brigham Young. Often described as a lawman, scout, and frontiersman, Rockwell became famous for his fierce loyalty, sharpshooting skills, and his reputation as both a guardian of the Mormon community and a feared gunman. His life was filled with adventure, controversy, and a mix of myth and fact.
