Notes
The opera Weibertreue oder Die Mädchen sind von Flandern is a German adaptation of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Così fan tutte, with a libretto by Christoph Friedrich Bretzner. This version, titled Weibertreue, was first performed in Leipzig in 1794 and was later published in 1794 by Friedrich Gotthold Jacobäer. The opera is a comic singspiel in two acts, retaining the original's themes of love, fidelity, and deception. The German adaptation aimed to make the opera more accessible to German-speaking audiences while preserving Mozart's music.
This is the piano reduction of the score of Cori fan tutte which predates the publication of the full orchestral score by about twelve years. This is not the complete opera but includes the overture and selected arias and highlights for singing at home on the family piano.
