5R 1912 An Oratorio Four-Part Chorus of Mixed Voicesl Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass Soli and Piano by G.F. Handel
Notes
Handel's "Messiah" is an English-language oratorio composed in 1741 by George Frideric Handel, with a scriptural text compiled by Charles Jennens from the King James Bible and the Book of Common Prayer. First performed in Dublin in 1742, "Messiah" is notable for its beautiful arias, recitatives, and choruses, including the famous "Hallelujah" chorus. The work is structured in three parts, reflecting the prophecy and birth of Jesus, his passion and resurrection, and his glorification. Today, "Messiah" remains one of the most frequently performed and beloved choral works, celebrated especially during the Christmas season.
