Notes
The Republic is a philosophical work by Plato, written around 380 BCE. It presents a conversation led by Socrates, exploring the nature of justice, the ideal state, and the role of the individual within society. The dialogue examines the concept of justice both in the city and in the soul, and introduces the theory of the philosopher-king as the ideal ruler. It also features Plato's allegory of the cave, which discusses the difference between the world of appearances and the world of true knowledge. The book has had a profound influence on Western philosophy and political thought.
