5B; 1602; Geneva Bible

The Geneva Bible holds immense historical importance as the preferred Bible of English Protestants during the 16th and early 17th centuries, including the Pilgrims and Shakespeare. Renowned for its extensive marginal notes, which helped readers understand the scriptures, it was the first English Bible to be fully divided into verses. Published between 1560 and 1644, this translation influenced many of the English Reformation's religious and political ideas, making it a cornerstone of English Protestantism.

A remarkable example of the 1602 Geneva Bible, featuring its original leather binding that includes embossed borders on front and back covers. Marbled endpapers. Rebacked to preserve structural integrity. The smooth brown leather rebacking is expertly done, seamlessly blending with the original boards; apart from the leather's textural difference. Text is printed in clear, legible black-letter type. All pages are present with light toning and some typical foxing. Minor wear to the corners, consistent with age, but overall, the volume is in very good condition for a Bible of this era.
