1838 La Sainte Bible

Notes

La Sainte Bible (1838) is a French translation of the Bible, often associated with the Protestant tradition. This version was typically based on earlier translations by scholars such as Jean-Frédéric Ostervald, a Swiss pastor who revised traditional Protestant translations in the 18th century to emphasize clarity and moral teaching. The 1838 edition aimed to provide a reliable and accessible version of the scriptures for French-speaking readers, reflecting the growing demand for vernacular Bibles during the 19th century. It was widely used in Protestant communities for study, worship, and personal devotion.
