A Christmas Carol is one of the most famous and enduring works by Charles Dickens, first published in 1843. It tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a cold-hearted, miserly old man who despises Christmas and everything associated with kindness and generosity. On Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, who warns him to change his ways or suffer a terrible fate. That night, Scrooge is visited by three spirits—the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come—who take him on a journey through his own life, showing him the impact of his greed and selfishness on himself and others.

Charles Dickens (1812–1870) was a towering figure in 19th-century English literature, known for his vivid characters, biting social commentary, and deep concern for the poor and vulnerable. Famous for novels like A Christmas Carol, Oliver Twist, and Great Expectations, Dickens used fiction to highlight injustices in Victorian society.
