Notes

Alien by Alan Dean Foster (1979) is the novelization of the classic science fiction horror film of the same name. The story follows the crew of the spaceship Nostromo, who respond to a distress signal on a desolate planet. There, they encounter a mysterious alien vessel and unwittingly bring aboard a deadly extraterrestrial organism.

As the alien grows into a terrifying predator, the crew is hunted one by one, leaving Warrant Officer Ellen Ripley to confront the creature in a desperate battle for survival. Foster’s novel expands on the film’s atmosphere of tension and isolation, offering additional character insights and vivid descriptions of the alien menace. It remains a gripping adaptation of one of the most iconic sci-fi films ever made.

First hardcover printing of Alien issued as part of Warner’s Sci-Fi book club series. Preceded only by the paperback edition, this version of Alien bears the original cover art by D.K. Stone. Signed by Alan Dean Foster directly on the title page.
