Notes

Catholic Family Bibles are a type of Bible specifically designed for use within Catholic households, often focusing on both the spiritual and practical needs of the family. What sets them apart from other versions of the Bible is their inclusion of the full canon of scripture recognized by the Catholic Church, including the deuterocanonical books (such as Tobit, Judith, Wisdom, and Maccabees) that are not found in Protestant Bibles. In addition to the complete Catholic Bible, these editions often feature supplementary content such as family record pages, religious prayers, and other devotional materials, making them more than just a text of scripture.

The Catholic Family Bible is often presented in large, decorative formats, with illustrations or engravings that highlight key biblical events and teachings. These Bibles are traditionally meant to be passed down through generations, serving as both a spiritual and cultural heirloom. The inclusion of specific Catholic traditions, such as prayers to saints and the use of the liturgical calendar, further distinguishes these Bibles from Protestant or other Christian family editions. Their design and content are deeply tied to the Catholic emphasis on family, tradition, and the centrality of the Church in daily life.
