Cosette 12 x 18 paper print

5E, 12 x 18 paper print of Cosette from Les Miserables- painting by Matthew David Grant

Mathew in homage to Léon Comerre recaptures beautifully the great masters’ sensitivity and vulnerability of the life “Cosette” ( an orphan from Les Miserables by Victor Hugo) and the life she is experiencing while under the watchful eyes of those being paid to care for her every need.  He has merged the two worlds of where she has just come from and the new life that Jean Val Jean will offer to her with her very first possession, a beautiful doll she has only seen through the panes of glass in a shop window.

Léon Comerre, a French painter from 1850-1916, created a painting titled "La poupée de Cosette" (Cosette's doll) based on Victor Hugo's novel "Les Misérables."
