The 1890s editions of the Doctrine and Covenants reflected significant changes within the LDS Church, particularly following the 1890 Manifesto. These editions included additional sections and updates to earlier revelations to align with the church's evolving doctrines and policies. The 1890 edition was the first to be published after the Manifesto, marking a pivotal moment in church history as the LDS Church sought to adapt to new legal and social realities.

Description

Black pebbled canvas hard back cover with embossed design on front and back cover and gold embossed lettering on the spine. About an inch long tear on upper part of the spine and fraying of canvas on top and bottom of the spine. Slight tearing and worn appearance to corners of the front and back covers. This copy belonged to Maine State Library and has a number and letter code (298P91) written in white on the spine and four withdrawn stamps impressed across the front cover and title page noting that it was removed from the library in February 14, 1900. Light red fore edge and pages 73 and 75 are uncut on the edge and have minor tearing that does not affect the integrity of the text.
