Notes
The Dutch Bible refers to translations of the Bible into the Dutch language. One of the most significant translations is the Statenvertaling, completed in 1637. This translation was commissioned by the Synod of Dort in 1618-1619 and aimed to provide a more accurate and Calvinist-influenced version of the scriptures for Dutch-speaking Protestants. The Statenvertaling has had a profound influence on Dutch culture, language, and religious life, similar to the King James Version in English-speaking countries. Modern translations continue to make the Bible accessible to contemporary Dutch readers.
