Notes
The Geneva Bible of 1615 is an influential English translation of the Bible, renowned for its clarity and accessibility. Originally published in 1560, the Geneva Bible was produced by English Protestant exiles in Geneva, Switzerland, during the reign of Queen Mary I. The 1615 edition continued to feature extensive marginal notes that provided commentary and interpretation, aiding readers' understanding of the scriptures. It was the first English Bible to use verse numbers and became widely popular, especially among Puritans, and was even brought to America by the Pilgrims. The Geneva Bible's legacy lies in its contribution to English biblical scholarship and its role in shaping Protestant religious thought.
