Notes

The 1589 Geneva Bible holds a significant place in the history of English translations of the Bible. Published in Geneva during a time of religious and political turmoil, it was a product of the Protestant Reformation. Notable for its inclusion of extensive study notes, it was the first English Bible to incorporate such commentary, making it a valuable resource for both scholars and lay readers. The Geneva Bible's influence extended beyond its time, shaping subsequent translations and serving as a key text for early English-speaking Protestant communities. Its enduring legacy lies in its role in spreading Protestant ideas and shaping the religious landscape of the English-speaking world.
