Notes

Grimm's Fairy Tales is a famous collection of German folktales compiled by the Brothers Grimm, Jacob and Wilhelm, first published in 1812 as Kinder- und Hausmärchen (Children's and Household Tales). These stories were originally passed down orally through generations and were collected by the Grimms to preserve Germanic folklore. The collection contains well-known fairy tales like Cinderella, Snow White, Hansel and Gretel, Rapunzel, and Rumpelstiltskin.

The tales are notable for their dark themes and moral lessons, often involving magical creatures, harsh consequences, and elements of danger, much grittier than the softened versions we see in modern adaptations. The Grimms continued to revise and edit the tales over time, making them more accessible for children, although the early editions retained much of the original brutality.
