Notes
History of the Church by B.H. Roberts is a multi-volume work that provides a comprehensive account of the early history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Compiled and edited by Elder Roberts, a prominent historian and General Authority, the series is based on the writings, journals, and official records of Joseph Smith, the founder of the church. It covers significant events from the founding of the LDS Church in 1830 to the martyrdom of Joseph Smith in 1844 and beyond.
The work details key moments in the church's early development, including the publication of the Book of Mormon, the establishment of the first church communities in Ohio, Missouri, and Illinois, and the persecution and challenges faced by the early Saints. It also explores doctrinal developments and provides context for the revelations Joseph Smith received. History of the Church remains a foundational source for understanding the early years of Mormonism and its growth under Joseph Smith’s leadership.
