5B 1861 Holy Bible with Old and New Testaments

Notes

This Bible includes twenty four photographs by photographer Francis Frith who travelled to Egypt and Palestine on three occasions between 1856 and 1860. After each trip he would publish his photographs in Bibles, this being the first time photographs were published in Bibles. His two volume folio “Queens Bible” was the most popular and this Bible is a smaller edition of that. By including his carefully captured photographs of the holy land in his Bible, Firth is going beyond illustration of text to bring the devout reader closer to the reality of the Bible as true history.
