-King Richard II*
-King Richard II*
j, Thumb book, Historical Play by William Shakespeare
Notes
King Richard II of England reigned from 1377 to 1399, ascending the throne as a child of ten. His reign was marked by internal strife and political challenges, including the Peasants' Revolt of 1381 and ongoing conflicts with powerful nobles. Richard's autocratic style and attempts to centralize power alienated many of his subjects, leading to his eventual downfall. In 1399, he was deposed by his cousin, Henry Bolingbroke, who became Henry IV. Richard II's reign is often remembered for its turbulence and his eventual tragic fate, which has been immortalized in William Shakespeare's play "Richard II."
