Notes
Éliphas Lévi’s Les Mystères de la Kabbale, ou L’Harmonie Occulte des Deux Testaments explores the mystical and symbolic connections between the Old and New Testaments through the framework of Kabbalah. Lévi presents the Kabbalah as the hidden key that unites all true religious and esoteric traditions, suggesting that the ancient Hebrew mysticism of the Old Testament and the spiritual revelations of the New share one divine origin. The book delves into the structure of the Sephiroth, the Tree of Life, and the symbolism of sacred names and numbers, using them to illustrate how the same divine truths manifest across time, prophecy, and scripture. Lévi’s tone is deeply philosophical, blending theology, magic, and mysticism to demonstrate that all sacred wisdom stems from a single, universal source.
The author of this rare book was known for his beautiful recreation of magic and alchemical manuscripts in the late 19th century. The text inside was originally written in 1861 but went unpublished. Éliphas wrote this for the attention of his disciple Baron J. De Spedalieri Before it became the property of J. Charrot and finally became the property of then well-known occultist whose whole collection was sold off in 1916. The book was finally published as a book in paperback form in 1920. The beautiful figures drawn by Éliphas are reproduced in this first edition and with some being in full color. Only one other copy is known to be available worldwide.
