5W J.R.R. Tolkien, Guild Publishing London, three volumes,1987-1989
Notes
The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien is a high-fantasy epic that follows the journey of Frodo Baggins to destroy the One Ring, a source of immense evil. It's a tale of friendship, courage, and the battle between good and evil, set in the richly detailed world of Middle-earth.
The Hobbit, a prequel, tells the story of Bilbo Baggins, Frodo's uncle, who embarks on an adventure with dwarves to reclaim their treasure from Smaug, a fearsome dragon. It's a lighter, whimsical introduction to Middle-earth.
The Silmarillion delves into the ancient history of Middle-earth, recounting its creation and the epic struggles of its earliest ages. It's a mythological tapestry that lays the foundation for the events in Tolkien's other works.
