Notes
The Martin Luther hymnbook is a collection of hymns inspired by the works of Martin Luther, the Protestant Reformer. Luther’s original hymnbook, first published in 1524, was a foundational work for congregational singing in the Protestant Church. By 1800, various editions and adaptations of Luther’s hymns had been published, preserving his emphasis on simple, accessible music for worship. These hymnbooks often included well-known hymns like “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” and were widely used in German-speaking Protestant communities.
