W 1974 Herman Melville, The Franklin Library

Notes

Moby-Dick by Herman Melville is a classic American novel published in 1851. The story follows Captain Ahab's obsessive quest to hunt down Moby Dick, a giant white whale that previously destroyed Ahab's ship and left him maimed. Narrated by Ishmael, a sailor on Ahab's whaling ship, the novel explores themes of obsession, revenge, and the struggle between man and nature. Melville's richly detailed descriptions, symbolic depth, and exploration of existential questions have cemented "Moby-Dick" as one of the greatest works in American literature.
