Notes
Edward A. Freeman (1823–1892) was a prominent English historian and scholar, best known for his works on early English and European history. His most notable work, The History of the Norman Conquest of England (6 volumes), provides a detailed analysis of the events leading to the Norman Conquest in 1066 and its impact on English society. Freeman emphasized the continuity of English institutions and culture through historical upheavals. His approach combined meticulous research with a strong narrative style, though his work sometimes reflected the biases of his era, particularly his nationalist perspective.
