^Pirates in Oz*
^Pirates in Oz*
1930 by Frank L. Baum
Notes
In the whimsical land of Oz, where emerald forests and yellow brick roads abound, there existed a band of mischievous pirates like no other. These merry marauders sailed not on the high seas, but through the billowing cotton candy clouds in their candy-striped hot air balloons. With lollipops for swords and gummy bears for cannonballs, they plundered candy treasure chests and sought the elusive Chocolate Doubloon. Captain Gumbeard, the fearless leader with a licorice peg leg, always had a toothy grin as he navigated the skies, shouting, "Ahoy, me hearties! Set a course for Sweet Island, and may the sugar winds be ever in our favor!" In the land of Oz, even pirates had a sweet tooth and a sense of adventure that was positively scrumptious.
