This is a replica of the first edition of the Book of Mormon  that was published in March 1830 in Palmyra, New York. The First Edition, often referred to as the "1830 edition," consisted of 5,000 copies printed by E.B. Grandin. Joseph Smith, the founder of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, translated the text from gold plates that were delivered to him by an angel named Moroni. The first edition is a single volume and differs in format from later editions, including minor grammatical and typographical corrections made in subsequent printings. Today, surviving copies of the 1830 edition are rare and highly valuable, treasured as significant historical and religious artifacts.
