Notes

Shakespeare's plays are traditionally divided into three main genres: tragedies, comedies, and histories. His tragedies, such as Hamlet, Macbeth, Othello, King Lear, and Romeo and Juliet, explore themes of fate, ambition, and human flaws, often ending in catastrophe. His comedies, including A Midsummer Night's Dream, Twelfth Night, As You Like It, The Taming of the Shrew, and Much Ado About Nothing, feature humorous situations, mistaken identities, and typically end on a joyful note. The histories, like Henry V, Richard III, Henry IV (Parts 1 and 2), Richard II, and Henry VI (Parts 1, 2, and 3), focus on the reigns of English kings and their political struggles. Each play showcases Shakespeare's profound insight into human nature and societal dynamics, making his work timeless and universally influential.

Description

Green leather hardcover books in seven volumes with gold embossed design on the front and back covers and the spines, gold lettering on the spines, gold fore edges, and four raised bands. There is cracking on the edges of the spine from wear that has resulted in the leather being a lighter shade of green in places, a few nicks and tears to the leather covers, and brown speckling to many of the pages. In great condition overall.
