Notes
The Star Wars: The New Jedi Order series is a sweeping 19-book saga set in the Expanded Universe (now “Legends”) that explores the galaxy’s epic struggle against a brutal extragalactic species known as the Yuuzhan Vong. Set about 25 years after Return of the Jedi, the series follows the next generation of Jedi—including Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin Solo—as they confront not only the physical threat of invasion but also deep moral and philosophical challenges. Notable for its darker tone and major character deaths, the NJO redefined the stakes in the Star Wars universe and ushered in a more mature phase of storytelling, with multiple authors contributing to an interconnected narrative arc.
The books sold together here are Vector Prime, Balance Point, Star by Star, Destiny’s Way, and The Unifying Force. They are all part of this larger series, but represent only a portion of the full story. In proper reading order, Vector Prime is the very first book, introducing the Yuuzhan Vong threat. Balance Point comes sixth, Star by Star is the ninth, Destiny’s Way is fourteenth, and The Unifying Force is the final novel, bringing the entire saga to a close. These titles span the beginning, middle, and end of the series, so while they give important milestones, they don’t include key developments that occur in between. To fully appreciate the story’s progression and character arcs, it’s best to read the series in order, starting with Vector Prime and moving through each title sequentially though these first editions are a great way to begin collecting the entire series.
