Notes
The Finger Prayer Book is a miniature edition of the Book of Common Prayer, printed in the 19th century and designed for portability and personal devotion. These tiny prayer books, often no larger than a few inches, were elegantly bound in materials like leather, sometimes with gilt edges or embossed designs.
Popular during the Victorian era, they were cherished for their convenience and charm, fitting easily into a pocket, purse, or reticule. Despite their small size, they contained the full text of the standard Book of Common Prayer, allowing individuals to carry their faith with them wherever they went. Today, these editions are valued for their craftsmanship and historical significance in religious publishing.
Description
Leather binding with gilt cross in the lower right hand corner and lettering on the upper left hand corner and spine. Red and gilt edges. General color wear to the covers but fully intact and fine condition overall.
