Notes

The Book of Common Prayer is the official liturgical text of the Church of England, first compiled in 1549 by Archbishop Thomas Cranmer during the English Reformation. It standardized worship across England, replacing Latin Catholic services with prayers in English. Revised multiple times, key editions include those of 1552, 1662 (still the standard in the Church of England), and later versions reflecting theological and linguistic updates. The book includes prayers, psalms, the order of the sacraments, and daily worship services, shaping Anglican worship and influencing liturgical traditions worldwide.
