The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien is a high-fantasy epic set in the fictional world of Middle-earth. Originally published in three volumes—The Fellowship of the Ring (1954), The Two Towers (1954), and The Return of the King (1955)—the story follows the quest to destroy the One Ring, a powerful artifact created by the Dark Lord Sauron. The central character, Frodo Baggins, is tasked with carrying the Ring to Mount Doom, where it can be destroyed.
