Notes

The Pied Piper of Hamelin is a German legend set in the town of Hamelin during the Middle Ages. According to the story, the town was overrun with rats, and a mysterious piper, dressed in colorful clothing, offered to rid the town of the pests in exchange for payment. He played his pipe, leading the rats into the Weser River, where they drowned. However, when the townspeople refused to pay him, the piper retaliated by luring the children of Hamelin away with his music, leading them into a mountain, never to return. This tale has become a symbol of broken promises and consequences.
