The Titan

P. Schuyler Miller was an influential American science fiction writer and critic whose career spanned the formative decades of the genre. Graduating from Union College, Miller transitioned from a technical writer into a prolific author, publishing prominent short stories across legendary pulp magazines like Astounding Stories, Weird Tales, and Wonder Stories. While he co-authored books like Genus Homo with L. Sprague de Camp, Miller is arguably most celebrated in the science fiction community for his immense, long-running tenure as the primary book reviewer for Astounding (later Analog), where his sharp, discerning critique helped shape the literary standards of the Golden Age of science fiction. 

The centerpiece of this anthology is the title novella, The Titan, a striking piece of planetary romance and sci-fi mystery that Miller had to meticulously recreate and revise from an early longhand draft after his original manuscript was lost. Alongside the title piece, the volume compiles seven other highly regarded short stories, including "Old Man Mulligan".
