Wuthering Heights is a Gothic novel written by Emily Brontë, first published in 1847. The story is set on the remote Yorkshire moors and revolves around the passionate and destructive love between Heathcliff, an orphan raised by the Earnshaw family, and Catherine Earnshaw, his childhood companion. Their tumultuous relationship causes suffering for themselves and others, spanning generations. The novel explores themes of love, revenge, social class, and the supernatural. Though initially controversial, Wuthering Heights is now regarded as a classic of English literature for its intense emotional depth and complex characters.
